1999/2000 carbed 150 ocean pro, I believe it's a 2.7. Is it possible to get more out of this motor and be reliable for a fishin boat? is this the same block they use for the 200 xp? the boat is a 21 ft/1500 lb center console and 200 hp sure would make it a little more fun. I also run a Johnson 9.9 for a kicker, so there will be no long extended periods of idling/trolling speeds.

Unfortunately there isn't alot of HP to be had in those 150/175 60 degree motors. They are 2.5 liter and are strong contenders in there existing horsepower class but they have very restrictive exhaust and don't respond very well to much modifications. I think Monty or someone got about 200 hp out of one but there was much effort and money put into it. It is NOT the same block as the 3.0 liter 200 gt which can easily make 300+ hp and not even try hard. For the money you will spend modifying it just sell it and buy you a similar year 200/225 and you will be happier and so will your wallet. IMO.:D

Figures I got the red headed step child of the OMC v6's lol It has very low hours on it, under 100 or so. Might be a long time before it pops and I can justify a repower :D

Its not a red haired step child, it is a good reliable motor. Just not a candidate for a race motor. Sell it and repower if you need to.

The Eagle does respond to tighter heads, at least per a B&W Boat test.

I don't really expect to make a race motor out of it at all, but if I could change a set of carbs, heads, add a nice loud offshore dump, and get 175+ hp from it, that would be t!ts http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

It is a 2.6 liter engine. The 150 has more bottom end then the 175. So if your boat is heavy, staying with the 150 might be better.

Tighter heads work well according to the testing I have seen, but I am not sure with gas being what it is that I want to go to having to run super unleaded.

I am going to try a set of the bigger bore carbs on my engine soon, and see how much that helps.

Can you still get the stage 1 heads and jets from this eagle buildup?

Yes if you call Monty racing. Just remember, you will have to run better gas with that mod, so..... be careful.

I sure wish they had a dyno graph up there, so I could see the hp curve.

I would but I already have a matching Johnson kicker and all the guages, rigging and controls. :D However when I implode this OMC, a nice 250-300xs and a 8 hp 4 stroke kicker will find it's way back there :D
