Especially when you consider the Mod 50 motor was a 3 cylinder 49.9 CI engine! I think that, above all, is the most impressive Kilo record of any of them.

That, of course, was a highly modified engine. Chris Bush took that engine in stock form (no nose cone, BOX STOCK) and was trying to break the Kilo record in his Huberkati (SP?) boat. He ran OVER 90 MPH one direction, then blew it over BIG TIME on the way back. I think the record at the time was about 83 MPH. He would have destroyed that record.

I own the very boat he set that record in. I Was going to rig it for Pro 120 but that drag thing just doesn't interest me that much. Let see I have the little laser of louis' and a Mirage that his son built. is that keeping it in the family or what.

An interesting thing to me is that Lee Davies worked hard to set a 5 mile, 3 lap competition record as a Mod U at 104.330 - with a 2.5 - and there is a competition record at 104.348 set with a 500 cc Yamato. Those guys move!

some of the coolest boats i've seen are the european f500 tunnel boats. our PRO 500's use hydros becuase of the big courses but in europe the tight one pin corners require better cornering. the races that stand out to me are Lakeland, FLA 93 at the 500cc World Champs...the tunnels got to start inside the hydros every heat for obvious reasons. if a hydro and tunnel ran down the straight at the same speed when they would turn, the hydro would sweep it but the tunnel would set and turn hard. by the next bouy the tunnel would have caught up with the hydro, the acceleration was awesome!!! they did that lap after lap in four heats, it was great!!

in auronzo italy in 95 i got to see a great f500 world series race, all the top drivers in europe, man they were fast, very cool racing...
