Hi,
Talk about mechanics from hell. A friend of mine has a 86 Black Max 150 that ran OK, went into the shop for crank seals, and never ran right since. So far we've found and replaced a bad switchbox and trigger. Still won't pull past about 4000 rpm.

He got to looking at the carburetors, and found the 2 bottom ones were WH 29's bone stock, and the top one is a WH 35, much smaller bore. I figure the engine was running like a 4 , draggin the two top holes. Ken saw the difference before, but all the "experts" he asked didn't think it was a big deal.

I wonder how it got there. Must be a pretty messy shop. Anyway, if he can't recover the right carb from the mechanic, (it probably left on the other engine) what should we put on for carbs to make it run decent? I think it's a 2.0 liter engine. SN is A181505 on the clamp, none on the welch plug.

The guy's pretty unlucky lately. His computer smoked. He should join this board in a couple of days when he gets the new one.

Ken and I thank you for the help

John

The wh-29 should be the stock carb for that engine. The wh-35 was a 135 carb if I remember correctly. Even with the wh-35 I don't think that is your problem. It still should turn within a couple hundred rpm of the 29-s. I probably have some 29-s if he can't get his other one back.

The WH-35 is 35 mm, vs 39 mm. I suspect it's choking for air and running pretty rich on the top 2.

What do you want for 1 29 in decent shape? Should be jetted 64 and 56. If it doesn't fix it, I'll have him drag the bote to my house so I can see what other parts are put on backwards.

Thanks for the help
John
