Was Born In Quincy Michigan On Marble Lake, Left When I Was 12 But Can't Get That Place Out Of My Head. Presently Live In Miami But The Market And Economy The Way It Is I Have Been ThinKing Of Going Back. Anybody Live Near Marble Lake Or Coldwater Lake With Any Kind Of Helpful Info. Like Boating Info Or Houses On Marble Lake For Sale Would Be Greatly Appreciated.
There's a half-dozen people from Marble Lake and Quincy area who frequent this board. Nice area. I live an hour East, across the street from Loch Erin, a private lake, I have access.. Lots of good property available here too. Wanna buy mine?

Michigan is a great state, and the area you are referring to is very nice. That being said, if you're looking for an improvement from Miami to MI in terms of the economy, you might be in for a rude awakening. MI has one of the highest, if not THE highest, unemployment rates in the country. Add in high taxes, a domestic auto industry in shambles, and one of the highest rates of exit migration in the nation, and the near future in MI isn't too bright. In fact, 5 of the top 10 zip codes in the country for mortgage foreclosures, and home reposessions, are in S.E. Lower MI.
Don't get me wrong, most of my family and friends still live in MI, and I love the state in terms of boating and recreational activities......but it's darn hard to earn a decent living there right now. That being said, if you've got a bulletproof business, or a good job opportunity waiting for you there, I'd move back up in a heartbeat!

Housing on Marble is outrageous. ....can't touch a buildable lot for less than 75K
The chain is still awesome to boat on
Like I said, I'm 40 minutes from Jackson, Ann Arbor, or Toledo, private lake access (across street from lakefront), 1700 sq ft 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch with 2' deep 2 car and a shed, built in '99. Taxes are around $1300. Take it for $150K. I'm itching for a smaller place closer to town.
Across the road, taxes are $3000-5000, but there's MANY of the "nicer" lakefront homes for sale right now because of the real esate slump.

I live on the East side of Marble Lk (Lukesport Dr) and there is a nice house down the street for sale accross the street from the lake. I'm not sure what they are asking but if your interested I can walk down and take a picture for you. It's for sale by owner. I have an extra lot over here but not too interested in selling just yet. Shoot me a PM so I can get your email and send you some photos.
