After running my Sonic 24 all summer I really am starting to like it. I currently have twin 86 merc 200 carb motors all stock and the there alright, but I want to go a little faster like everyone, and gain some cruise mpg. Will efi help with the cruise mpg enough to want to change? are 2.5s better on fuel at cruise? are the 2.5s quieter than 2.4s My 2.4s seam to have a lot of motor noise vs exhuast noise or is that just 2.4s. I have some 280s on my other boat and there great, but this boat is all budget so looking at just 200s

From the reading I've done, EFI adds a little to the top horsepower but its greatest gain is fuel efficiency or MPG.

Not in all cases....A well tuned set ov carbs iz hard to beet, especially wit twins!!......BUT, U kan fergit tha "Best ov both worldz" theory...U git good cruise MPG or ya git good top end numbers, but U COMPROMISE between both!!!.....

2.5's have more torque, so in reality have power to slang a bigger prop, and help your situation, BUT don't exspect a big differnce in top end numbers, kuz 2.4's will give a 2.5 a run for it'z money when stretchd out...remember, 200 HP iz 200HP!!...Altho tha behind tha liner porting IZ more efficeint, and does make more power, IF U FEED IT!!!!...

IMO I'd choose the 2.5 hands down ... The asmatic 2.4 style engine simply doesn't have the fuel inventory to make BIG stock HP. And when modified by shear design the 2.5 is the HP KING ( HP per CI )....Also the 2.4 parts availability are becoming like looking for a needle in a haystack , I've been told by some 2.4 owners..

my opinion,
