Im running 5.5 pounds currently but the motor seems to hit 7400 rpm with a 26 or 27 and just fall on its face. i have yet to check the plugs but with a smaller prop im turning over 8000.
im running a valero yt with a 2.4 that was said to be in the 240 hp range when built.
so whats your set up and how many PSI are you running.

What size fuel lines and tank pickup are you running?

running a holly blue pump with a regulator
The pressure is not a the problem but it might be the volume. The pump might not be able to keep up with the demand. Do a wide open run and shut off the engine the second it starts cutting out. Pull the main jet plugs and see if you have low or dry float bowels.

If you put your pressure gauge, or the sender for it, on the plugged exit port of the last carb in the string, or on any carb if it's manifolded, and see what the pressure is at WOT. If it's low, it's a flow problem. If normal, flow is adequate.
hope it helps

its not that its cutting out it just seems to run out of power. i have the guage between the pump and the fist carb, i will do some wot testing and report back
Watching the gauge is a good idea but to be sure there isn't something stuck in one of the carb inlet valves I would try draining the float bowels too.

Don't sound like a fuel problem....if ya juss runn'in outta power!!!....If a 2.4 starves for gas enuff to quit pull'in, U have tagged a piston....3.5#s takes my F-1 past 10K........But, I use a bypass regulator......That don't sound like your problem, but dead hed regulators are juss an accident wait'in ta happen...But thats juss my opinion!!

I've run red and blue, with n without regs. Never had an issue but I drive with both feet on tha floor  99.9% of tha time. Take tha regulator outta tha circuit and try it. Don't idle it to long without tha regulator, it'll push past tha seats. Like Rex says, thats more than enough pressure ta wind it up. Might elliminate one possible problem.......T

T-Rex makes a valid point, fuel starvation would give you a loss of power/RPM drop and eventual stall if you don't back off. 5.5 PSI is more than enuf on a carbed motor as long as it doesn't drop at WOT. Basically, if you read pressure at WOT, you are still getting fuel. You might wann read your plugs, do a compression test and double check your timing.
