what would be a good engine for a scat cat??? 25 - 40 hp range
in other words whats a fast 40hp ?

Back when they were building those, I always wanted to run a 45ss on one. :)

I had a 4cyl 80hp merc on mine. :eek: I got it with a 25 rude and broke the transom . It was too slow but we fixed the transom and put a 50 rude on it. broke again. then replaced the entire transom with knees and made it bullet proof and bolted on the 80. It was fast as hell and almost ejected the boat from the water during take off. top speed it ran about 65 mph with a 14x24 chopper. Definetly lots of fun till the bottom imploded.:eek:

That's what I'd be doing. Cut the top off and rebuild it strong. Then drop a Stinger on it.
