Well, if every thing goes as planned I am going to be doing my first rebuild in the next couple of months. I have been looking for a 200 2.5 and finally found one. Its a 91 200 carb. Number 4 hole is bad and thats all I know until I can get it pulled apart. Still turns over and runs. I am guessing all new bearings and a new piston for that hole. Has 100 psi on all holes except for number 2 and 4. 2 has 90 psi 4 well, its bad. Are there any negatives about this year model? I am pretty sure it is the first year of the 2.5's and I think they came with a seven petal front. I have a merc manuel and a fly wheel puller from my search thats about all the real specialty tools I need. If It turns out I need some more I will just buy them. I have an old driveshaft to use for a powerhead stand. I am looking forward to this. What do my fellow scream and flyers think? Am I nut's?

Buy a GOOD shop manual for that year model engine ,you'll be fine and if ya get stuck the Scream and Fly tec.forum is a GREAT source to get helpfull information...IMO The carbed 2.5 would be a VERY good "beginners" engine to rebuild you should be just fine.

good luck,

Thank's Jay,
The manual is a manual from Mercury not a imitation.
