I recently purchased a velero yt and I am going to rig it with a 2.5L 175 EFI. My question is what size jackplates have worked best on this boat? Any info will be helpful thanks.

The best running YT (Production boat) I ever saw had a 6 inch hydro jack plate.

the magic number is 10" every fast yt ive seen suns 10", get a rapidjack there awesome. you need alot of setback on yt's so try ten.

I ran a 10" Bob's hydraulic. I had a Pro Max 225 with a DAH worked SRX 29 turning 6800 at 93 to 96 mph depending on conditions. Had perfect altitude and didn't need much positive trim.

Thanks for the info I am going to try a ten inch, by the way was the srx the best prop because it just so happens that I have a 27 srx that I thought about trying. That is if I can turn it.

SRX was my best all around prop. It had great acceleration, and great top end. Mine was worked by DAH, and he did a nice job, probably got 5 to 6mph on the rework. I also had a lightning ET 29 that had great acceleration, maybe better than the SRX, but it also lacked on top speed a bit.

Thanks for the info, My jackplate should be here today so if all goes well will be in the water this weekend. I can't wait, should be a big difference from the 21 checkmate I am used to. I will let you know how it goes

I have run a 1987 Viking YT since day one with a 5" setback and a 4 blade cleaver. About 3 weeks ago I put a 10" plate on it with a 29 SRX but it has been too windy to try out. I'll let you know.
