What does it take to get these motors to turn up,can the rev limiter be unhooked and what is possible after that? would like to get 7000 rpm if posible.they are 98 models on a 24 liberator tunnel...Thanks

Sean at Rapair can fix you up. You'll have to send him both the fuel ECU and the ignition ECM for programing.

RAPAIR IN ALABAMA can re program the efi and ecu boxes to turn the big 3 liters up to 7500. I have a 300pm on a 21xd bullet that i had done by those guys and am really pleased with the performance. Next step in the SVS to get more air into the front.

Thanks guys for the info on rapair,what is the prop shaft hp on these engines and should i sell them and try to get something better for the boat?Will the mods effect reliability?

Offshore motors in 98 were 260 or 280 hp[not 250]They came with the revlimiter set at 8250 rpms.I dont think you have the right info on the motors.If they have the new alien cowling they are 98 models,older cowlings older motors.Mine is a 260.They turn out plenty of hp stock and can be modifyed to turn out more.If you have a 260 or 280,and you are not turning 7000 then you have a problem or[my gess ] you are turning to big of a pitch prop.The osr need to turn a lest 7000 to make HP.I have to run 24,25 pitch props to get rpms up

Your motors should dyno at about 260 @ the propshaft.
Increasing the rev limit WILL effect reliability. You should be able to rev 6450 safely and keep the oil injection.
7000 RPM would significantly shorten the life of the motor and you'd be well out of your power band.

Thanks Tony You make a lot of sense,I think the thing to do is sell the motors because they are in excellent shape with only 35 hrs on them.they are a matched set with one counter rotater.Thanks again guys..
