ive got a 16' stiletto with a '89 200hp oil inj blackmax (no mods) a few questions.
i put 2 solid mounts in the bottom and normal in the top thought the noise and vibration would obviously be a little louder but was quite surprised with the change.
should i be expecting a big difference?
also am having huge issues with gear selection wondering if when i took the powerhead off to change mounts, could there be a chance that i miss alined teeth on the selector shaft? or just mal adjusted the cables or they have stretched a heap.seems to be a very fine line on adjusting them. trhanx in advance.

Why didn't you put solid mounts in the top? This is the harder set to change since the PH has to be pulled. A few people have mentioned rubber in the top isn't a good idea since the top can move but the bottom can't- something breaks. I'm just repeating not saying.

It sounds like you do have the shift rod in the wrong place. Was fine before but not now? Drop the LU and re-install.

couldnt get hold of solids for the top at the time so will be changing them soon.had a look at the shift rod and if i move it it will be too far in either direction so am presuming its in the same spot could it be anything else thanx for the info

I would drop the LU and re-install it. being 1 tooth off on the spline isn't a very big difference, not much by the eye. It isn't very hard to drop the LU and if you want you can check or change the water pump impellor too.
