I am thinking of buying a new 21 Liberator from Ft. Worth, Texas with a Merc 300XS. I don't know the first thing about the boats other than they have been around for quite a while. Can some of you enlighten me on a few things like what speeds to expect, prop selection, resale, customer service, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Love my 21 Liberator! The difference between these and other 21 cats is the extra 5" of freeboard. This gives you the feeling of being "in" the boat not "on" it.

This was important to me because my wife and 3 year old daughter are frequently on board so keeping them dry and comfortable is important.

Keep in mind that this is a Lake and River boat. While I have had mine in some nasty conditions I would seek a larger boat (like the 24 or 30) if your out running with the big boys. It excells in 1 foot wind chop and will deal nicely with most of the wakeboard boat wakes that I see daily.

I would recommend Randy Corson aka Wildman on this site for your boat even though he is in Florida. He rigged mine and it's perfect.

Regards,

Kenneth Wolkens

Good boat, poor submarine:eek: ;) If was buying one I would call Randy. He does some trick paint jobs, second to none in rigging and turns some fast speeds. He for sure has the setup figured out for that boat.

I just delivered one last week to Oklahoma with a 300xs. Ran 106.4 mph. Check out my rigging on my website below. There's a BIG difference! I have three in stock.

Make sure you compare the rigging on the ones from Texas and Wildmans. The setup on his are usually faster also.

Hey merctech, spring is about 4 hours away from where kena and I are. I did live in colleyville for a while, but hated the homeowners gestapo. A-holes tried to evict me (I owned the house, wrote a check and had the deed in hand) because I had a boat in the garage and a bb chevy on an engine stand. Not out where someone could see it, but in the garage. Anyways, try the byuboyz site as I think there are a few guys in the area you are moving to.

There is a difference between the boats rigged in Texas and the ones Randy does. Come to the Detroit area and we can line up one from Texas and 2 from Randy. All 3 are shiny and look cool but it's when you open the hatch and look under the dash that the differences jump out at you. It's the attention to detail and the hardware that stand out.

Randy rigs the way it should be done. The problem is the general public boat buyer will not pay what it costs to do that kind of work.

He deserves some serious kudos for sticking to his guns and maintaining the quality of his work.

Ahh, Dave is a pain about that stuff. I worked for him when I was 17. Took care of his little parks and stuff, as well as taking care of lots that hadnt been developed yet. A pain to get a pay check from too. When I quit, I gave him 2 weeks notice but he still refused to hand over the last check. I cought him coming to his office and let him know that without my paycheck I would be forced to gut shoot him. Even the cops sided with me, so I know he has pissed some people around him off. Anyways, get the boat and come hang out. Im right around the corner from Joe Pool and Ive never had anyone complain about high speeds there. Grapvine, Lewisville and lake Worth have all given me hell. And I dont like to take anything that isnt aluminium out on Grambury. Stump city.

Randy builds a beautiful boat but I promise you this boat is for flat water conditions period. If you are bringing the boat to a busy Northeast Lake, or anything like that know your conditions this is not the boat for you.

No problem with rough water, he just has to take his time learning to drive it. That way he wont stuff if. Stuff a sponson on any boat and there will be damage. Learn to drive defore you claim to be the king of the lake And dont do stupid stuff with your kids in the boat.

i dont know were you get your info but.. i run the water's of biscayne bay and i will tell you this, there is more wake, waves boat traffic than any lake you got up north.. this boat is not a offshore race boat and should not be driven like one.. my boat is a 98 and does not have one stress crack anywhere.. rick

Let's all keep in mind that this post was asking for an opinion on Liberator boats and not hijack Kena's thread for another trash session.

In his initial response, Anthony was posting his opinion of the boat based on his personal experiences just like the rest of us. His response was not hostile or indignant. He answered the question (and stayed on topic) from his perspective and gave his opinion. Free Speech. That is what this site is all about.

The subsequent responses however are leading us back down the path of a bash Anthony session. That is not what this post is about.

Back to the boats....Please

I aint the one who decided to take my kids out for a 100mph ride in water that was rough, then stuffed the bow. Seriously, you need to think about suicide. If you had hurt them, this would have been investigated, and you would be in jail. Out of curiosity, are your parents brother and sister? Only way I can see someone as ignorant as you. I still wonder why Greg didnt ban you after all your BS. He changed your name, but we wont let you hide and stir up more ****.

All I asked for was an opinion on Liberators and out of the blue, Captain New York shows up and insults half of the American boating public!

Someone please delete this guy for good and do us all a favor!!!

And since you live in Texas you are another that he figures also came from a delapitated Jack Daniels drinkin hillbilly filled trailer. This guys what most people invision when you think of a New York City a-hole. Hey any boat can have problems, you gotta look um over real close. And drive like you don't want to kill it and they last.

BEN , Check with Randy . As far as I recall he has only rigged 2.5 on twins . All his singles have been 3 liters . I do know a guy that had a 2.4 200 single but it only ran 65 mph . He later changed to a bridge port with no gain .Rich Martin 018:cool:

i did check with randy and he said the same you did. mostly twins. i would like to get one but all i have is my modified 260 and drag motor to put on it. i guess i could sell one to get a 300x or xs but i was just wandering. the other problem is all my motors are 15 inch mids. to cuda plymouth just snuck up on me not really ready. should make jasper. boat running great. motor apart. i have the mod 260 on it and i don't want to hurt it. virgin block and if i window it i would cry. i thing my drag with all the mods makes more power. plus if i have to sell one the 260 i think would go first. thanks for your answers just didn't want to buy a 300 xs. guess i have to .
