I will be doing the same swap this week and hope you get some more responces. Thought I read to make sure the hot wire from the choke needs to be unhooked. Does the digital box plug into your exsisting harness? Some one in the know will surly help out. bump

Anyone????

I'm curious too. I'd like to pull off the A27 that could have been molested and go to a A42 Digital. Any info on the swap is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken

easy, there is a plug that goes in the tpi harness,(i think you can loop it out as well) you also use a different size vaccum fitting where the ecu goes into the motor. if i missed anything im sure someone else will chime in.

The Mercury ECU Plug Part number is 848405.. I know how to convert the 2.5 stuff the 2.4 should be the same...
You will need to convert the air barb elbow feeding the ECU to the small orfice ..
That is Mercury Part number 22- 822715
Also you will need to convert to a resistor spark plug , I have good luck with
NGK : BR8HS gapped at .035"

Good luck,
Jay

Jay,

Do you use the BR8HS in 2.5's? Particularly a 260? Or is this recommendation for the 2.4 only?

I see many people use the surface gap plugs BUZHW in the 2.5's so I'm curious.

Thanks,

Ken

260's work fine with the NGK BR8HS , the 280's work with NGK BPZ-8H-N-10

One last questing Jay....

Any advantage between using the BR8HS or the BUZHW in a 260?

Thanks,

Ken

$$$$$$... The BUZHW are 3 times more expensive and I think they fowl quicker that the hook gap plugs........ JMO...

skeeter i think you are correct in that one of the wires gets hooked up differently

I went from analog to digital on my Bridgeport on my Vector. I changed the vacumn elbow, removed the throttle positioning sensor and put a blank plate over where it bolts on. Put an A-40 digital box on and just plugged it in. I was already running the BU-8H plugs so no problems there. I also installed dual pyrometers at the same time. Got the fuel-air ratio mix set and have never looked back.
