i am in the market to get out of the racing and into a big sport boat. i am looking at one here on scream and fly a 22 eliminator. justin great talking to you. can anyone tell me how they run with a 260 engine. i know it is a heavy boat. i have 2 engine here at home. one is a drag that is modified and one is a 260 that jim ruck did for me. all the parts i have are for 2.5s. the boat has a 300 pro max. don't know much about the motor. so i was thinking what the hell why not just put on one of my 2.5s. first can the boat get up on plane. a friend says it is heavy and needs lots of torque. also can i spin it up in a range the motor will like. 260 have a hot spot. or will the motor always be holding at 6000 rpm. maybe you guys who have tried this can give me some ideas. the man selling the boat says it does right around 80 with the pro max 300 1.62 gears. i would be putting on a 260 to drag specs with 1.87 lower unit. i would like to turn a big prop. let me know guys. i think the liberators are running over 100 this is what i would like to get with this single outboard. please help

There was a thread here about the 22' ers where some shills for cougar were claiming 105 for their 22 with a 300X. Since all I have to offer is a bash, I'll just keep quiet now and let others with useful information respond. :(

I just scattered my V8 and put a 2.5 on my 21 Obsession ( Eliminator ). I havent pushed it yet, but I dont see it being a 100 mph boat, I will be happy if it runs in the high 80,s. We will see ;) . I do know a guy on here with a 21 Couger that run over a 100 easy, he is a friend of Rocks who post on here. Its a fast 2.5, might be one of Rocks racing 2.5,s. Let us know what you end up with. Also he had it stripped down to eliminate some weight:D

Been there - done that, leave the 3.0 on the boat.
We ran a stock 200, then a 260, then to a 300 ProMax. Believe it or not, the stock 200 worked better than the 260. Torque is the needed element. The 300 was the hands down winner.
My buddy solved the problem with his 22'.

Oh by the way, great lake boat.

Lake Trash hit the nail on the head, leave the 3.0 ( with maybe some Simon or Wayne Taylor upgrades) or put 2 2.5's on it. If you want a hundred, I say go with the twins, if you want a 100. Chuck
