hands down, the donzi f-33; specifically the pre-OMC built ones, but even the OMC ones were way better than other stuff on the market at the time.

What kind of speeds do they get? This add says 45 knots? WTF?

Seacraft was an excellent offshore center console with twin outboards in the 80's and during those years was considered one of the best cc fishing boats built... It was also built with twin inboards... then you also had the 30' or 31' Chis Craft Center Console Scorpion with twin outboard or twin inboards that where very nice...

for fishing I liked the Seacraft better since it was drier ride... the chris craft was faster...

The real deal was the 31 Ocean Master. . The Sea Craft is to small, and none of the others are in the same league.

keith, best I can recall they were low 60's mph back in the day. It has a real deep v and solid hull, so the boat was very dry, and smooth n rough water, never slapped over waves...etc. There were some faster, but the Q was about the best rough water center console in the 80's. I was in the boat business then, and that was by far the best I drove back in that period of time IMHO.

Parker,

I did the pipe work on a nicely restored Rabco center(maby 29'?), a few years ago. How many did they make, and what sizes?

I might be thinking of someone else, but didn't Rabco build an awesome sportfishing boat around 45-50' and someone has decided recently to start building them again?

I set up a 35 for a friend and sent 2 300 V8's down there, very nice ride and dry, I did take out the driver winshield going to the Middle Grounds but that wasn't a boat issue it was just big. The side console made the boat feel very roomy compared to a CC, probably hard to find though.

Fountain made center console fishing machine then didnt they? I like the flare of fountains bow and lots of free board. Other than that Scarab has my vote to. Still a sexy hull and the Donzi isnt a bad looker to.;) James

Reggie added the flaired bow to help with bow lift and he got the idea from the Allisons he raced... which is what he modeled his much larger hulls after... they are Reggies design but he simply took the allison design he loved and enlarged it...

I think you might be thinking of rybovich.

Pretty rare but Pantera built a couple 28 CC's. I saw this one on boat trader the other day. I can't imagine any other 28-30 ft CC being a better ride in the rough. ;)

as a big rybo fan, it is philosophically difficult to answer, but I can tell you that the bronstein family (who owned Spencer boat works) bought it in the early 90's and began really trying to take it to the next level which is difficult to do unless you are the merit boat yard.:) a few years ago, Wayne Huizinga bought the yard and infused a lot of needed capital to continue with what the bronsteins started. A short time after that Michael Rybovich came back and I believe is still with them.

Ive never heard of a Rabco before.......is it a splash??????Yes, Rabco hulls were splashes of Cig's and Magnums, as quite a few others were back then. Decks were changed to protect the innocent. lol

well for staying dry in rough water the 31' ocean master if you dont agree you've never been on one. speed and can take a wave better then any fountain or scarab put together is a midnight express. If your saying scarab is a good rough water boat;then lets look at island runner 31,jupiter 31,marlin 35 now marlogo 35,the old victory hulls to name a few. When your in the gulfstream and its 10-15 ft I wouldn't want to be in a scarab.6ft seas okay: scarab, fountain not bad lots of rocking around.

Parkers Dad built RABCO for years.. Was the best offshore boat I have even run. We had a 28 and a 35. Both would out run anything on the water in a heavy sea. Toughest damn thing too. Middle grounds out of St Pete almost every weekend, we tortured those things.
Nowadays I would say that the Yellowfin and Invincibles are the fastest things going and still tough.. The Fountains and the Donzis are very fast as long as its not snotty.

Whats the best 30-35FT rough water center console ever made in the 80's?????????

Very simple! The one with the best driver in it!

That being said, what is the Army using again? And what kind is it that still have the V-bottom record from Anchorage to Seattle? Hmmmmm

Guys I have been in the V Bottom offshore Center console world all my life.
I ran a Midnight in the SKA. Was Awsome.. But not the fastest and not what I would consider a "production" boat. Ours was an 05 with trip modded 300's.
IMHO Scarab does not even make the list of top 10. And to back that up.. next SKA tourney That I attend, or anytime I will run against one in My Yellowfin or an Invicible. Better pack a lunch.
