It sounds like you have alot of slip, what mph you getting? That 300 should pull a 28 pitch prop over 6000 rpm.A good chopper will carry the bow really well but won't have as good a holeshot as a thru-hub.Try a 28 Mazco RE-4,there are alot of good props in the prop section here you can get a Mazco that is as nice as new for around 300-350 and if it doesn't run right you can resell it here, that is how I got mine dialed in with the right prop. The ultimate prop for your rig would be a Hydromotive QuadIV-OT,Awesome holeshot and will carry the bow at any throttle setting.

I think a chopper prop is only as good as it is worked for the application. But if worked wright for your application on a lighter hull it will make you want to slap your mama.

Kevin at R&R Props in Henderson Nevada... this way you could setup a time to go down and have him with you during testing... It'll put an end to the guess work and you'll get exactly what you need..

Try a Tempest Plus, they run great on those aircraft carriers. Lots of tail lift and load of bow lift. Big blades, lots of carrying ability.

I, like yourself, and another S&Fer who lives close to me are on the same quest for speed.I will share with you our chopper trial with DAH propellors,a very well known and respected custom prop shop here on S&F.We also own these Checkmate Pulsare's,mines a longdeck, his is a BR.The chopper didn't hook up very well compared to the trophy, even after it was customized, but i blame that on the size and weight of the boat.We tried a 24p & 26p chopper, but neither worked. Now,maybe a 4-blade chopper of some brand or other might be the ticket, but for now,Trophy is still the fastest on our boats, just our .02 worth.A Bravo 1 is the next trial.Good luck!

I WOULD TRY A TEMPEST PLUS OR THE HYDROMOTIVE 3 BLADE, BOTH WORKED WELL ON MY 21' CHECKMATE STARFLITE WITH 200 EFI @6000-6200
YOU SHOULD BE IN THE HIGH 80MPH RANGE EASY, THE MIRAGE PLUS WAS GOOD BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE TEMPEST PLUS, 4-BLADE IS NOT NECC,
HYDROMOTIVE WAS OK BUT HAD LOW SPEED BOUNCE, EVEN TUCKED UNDER, WE THINK FROM ONLY HAVING 4"-6" OF SETBACK. RUNS GOOD TOP END, AS GOOD AS ANY I HAVE TRIED.
A WELL SETUP PULSE WITH 300 MERC 3.0L SHOULD EASILY BE 85-90 MPH.
WHAT GEAR RATIO IS IN IT! 21" P 4-BLADE @ 6900 R'S????????
NO REV LIMIT ON 300X????
WHAT IS THE BEST SPEED YOU HAVE FOUND SO FAR???

Concord18 thanks for the info look forward to hearing the rest of your results.
Riverrummer70 I have just swapped my sportmaster for a torque master and sent the TM off to Titus to have is work done to it put on the low water pickup and nose cone along with his torque tab and then had him paint it to match the boat the gears that are in this unit are 1.75 The best speed i have seen so far is 78 MPH GPS wit a 23 tempest plus but that was when i had my sportmaster on it yet and i was way off the rpm range (way to low) as for the rpm question u have the prop was labbed so is mope like a 23 or 24 it is a rev 4 mercury prop. My power head should be back on wednesday so i will have more updated information after next weekend thanks to all thus far.

I would try a tempest or mirage. go with a 3 blade. I would be surprised if the chopper worked well.
