let me get this straight, your friend had a whaler get a new transom, and some other repairs, then the unsinkable legend sunk?

how long ago was the transom done, and what is your friend's name?
how come your friend, who had his boat so poorly repaired, did not go back there to complain?

something does not sound right at all. Tell your "friend" to call me and I will see if this boat was even fixed there or if its just another hater out there spreading false information.

at that location for 32 years, THOUSANDS of customers, in business since 1964- we must REALLY suck!
I can only hope I can come across a few more thousand customers to hit up for the one time repair before thier boats sink.

give me your friends name
the only dusky I remember being taken out is one that came in the height of busy season and he wanted it fixed the next week ahead of people waiting weeks to get fixed. So it left as Tom would not be pushed around like that.

That was about 5 years ago. The boat was not touched, did not leave half finished.

RobF

email me his name so I can confirm, your story is awfully vague, especially considering we have not done a whaler transom in many years, and the last one we did was a 13 whaler about 5 years ago.

definitly NOT one in 2005, which you said because the motor that sunk with the boat in question was a 2005

btw- dont normally do East Coast's work, want to clear that up.
He uses his own guy.
But Dirk Pitt is spot on as Joey comes and checks on his boat for him while its at my place, not an exaggeration when he says he supervises it for his customer.

see the progression 24 thread that is going right now...the yellow progression 22 in post 83 has been worked on at Raybo...look at the race hatch 9Built there)and the windscreeen and tell me who does crapy work...oh yeah...find eddie L and look at the notch in his transom...tell me that is crappy work too....

speaking of that 22 Progression, check out the reflection in this crappy paint job:eek:

Is Raybo still the same raybo from 10yrs ago? I heard they opened a shop in florida and I was just wondering if this is still the same operation.
As far as the quality goes I have to say the Imron they painted my parents 28 footer with 20yrs ago still shines like new today. They also did work on my old 98 stv which had a new transom and knees put in by them before I bought it. The job was bullet proof and cosmetically perfect and it held up for the 4 yrs I owned it without any signs of stress or age. They also repaired my old viper about 12 yrs ago and did a great job on that as well. no complaints from me:)

Raybo is now owned by myself, I started working there January 1995 and have been there ever since.

Tom, the original owner, has retired to North Carolina, there is no shop in Florida. About 10 years ago his son did open shop in North Carolina and is doing incredible for himself.

When someone comes on a public forum that has 30k+ members and spreads lies or extreme exaggerations I think its only fair that I get to the bottom of them.

I have already disclosed the posters "friend" with the Dusky story as false, and if I am wrong I defy you to prove otherwise. VERY minor dissassembly was done to a boat that had hit a buoy to prepare an insurance estimate, which your friend got paid for, then when he wanted his boat put before everyone else he was told no and he took it somewhere else. If any business owner thinks thats wrong I would love to hear it.

The other "friend" with the Whaler, sorry but it just does not make sense, give me his name and I will pull his records. I would remember a $9k whaler resto, certainly one with a new transom.
And I know damm sure if I had spent $9k on a job I would go back and make sure it was made right- but your friend did not.

Oh ok north carolina it was. i remember now. its been a few years since Ive been down there. So I guess you remember the red and white STV euro that was in there around 2002. I sent my friend chris to have the work done there before I bought it. happy to say the least

Don't know Raybo but a guy Joe who once woked there is a butcher who works mobile  I had to sue him in court after he started project he could not correct again no reflection on Raybo just the facts!

RobF

the mobile guy you speak of used to clean up and help out when he was in high school.
He then left and went to AMAP in Bayshore, which went out of business, was taken over by the AMAP's relative, that also went out of business.
At that time Joe went on his own with the mobile thing.

He worked here one other time, many years ago, for like 4 months.

Bullsht like this is why i rarely post anthing here everyone has something to say about everything  I've known Rob most of my life all the work i've ever seen him do is to the upmost perfection. In fact my boat in in his hands as we speak as so is many others. Do you think its for no reason that such large companies as Marine Max use him to do the work on thier BRAND NEW BOATS! I think some people need to get thier facts straight before they start talkin sht!!!!

for years i always heard how great raybo is but luckily i never needed to go there until recently when he did a jetski for me and the work was perfect

not only did he charge me less than the other estimates i got but he matched and blended the paint perfectly . i had a guy who owned an auto body shop for 30 yrs look at the jetski after he fixed it and he couldn't even find the blend line or tell where it was fixed
