I have been running my crap DHD 800watt amp pushing these tiny old single voice coil rockford 10's and i mounted the amp low in the bow, after 10 outings it got real wet, more beer then water and it aint workin. i paid 40 bucks for it used from a friend but the amp worked great! I tried to find the same one but can't so now im looking for another pos off brand to replace it with. Anyone have similar luck with a cheap amp? :D

Look on Ebay. I found an old Orion re-furbed amp for $50.00. They were the ***** back in the day. It's a 2x150 and I'm using it to power a DVC 10" sub. Work's pretty good, just gets hot and shuts itself down if it's cranked up for a long period of time.

give it a bath and get all that semi-conductive beer goo out. Leave it outside to dry. It might actually still work.

I run 3 Audiovox Rampage amps in my boat. Two 2-channels for the sub-woofers and 1 4 channel for the rest of the speakers. They are less than $70 each so I won't feel bad if I fry them.

Also, they have a 30 amp fuse in them that works pretty good to protect them. I connected my battery up backwards for a second and thought I fried all three amps. New fuses and good as new.

Kev, are you back in FL? If so keep an eye out for those audio electronics shows that go on every once in awhile, you can catch cheap stuff there too.

Get on ebay at the start of the year and spring, I saw tons of amps go cheap. I bought some little alpines for $15tmd that would work on the high side, one is 4ch and can be bridged. There were a lot of older good amps, only issue is they tend to not be class D for subs and some take lots of power and get hot. I saw lots of jensen/pyramid brands/sony/etc go cheap. Then again I just bought a 5ch hifonics that does 300wrms on subs at 2ohms for $76 tmd, that would be nice in a boat just one amp. Refurb looks like new, off ubid. Can also run 2ohm on each 4ch or bridge them for 2ch+sub.
