Buddy, could you post some old programs from Havasu and Parker here? Try to go for the max size Greg allows us so we can see details!

How about scans of the press kit for the Texmo Moth?

Thanks!

If there is an entry list, Gary Garbrecht, PROP TOUR OWNER, tells me he raced the Salton Sea 500 on an outboard... Was wondering if he is listed. Also, he claimed my dad, Russ Hill, Sr. was the motor inspector....I don't recall my dad inspecting, but my brother was Region 12 APBA, Chairman at the time, even though this race was not APBA... APBA had not invented OPC yet...

My dad had built Jimmy Clinkbeard's three Merc 1000's....that he ran on a Glastron...

I was "diggin" again, found this picture of Me and Mile Wallace....Mike won Salton Sea in "TINY TIM", his dad's boat...but this was almost 20 years later in his outboard...I'll check the date with a Pareker Program, but think this was '73...

This isn't Jimmy Clinkenbeard, but it is an Outboard Marathon Rig of the '60's...

This wasn't a BIG PROGRAM, but it was a BIG RACE. Sponsored by Playboy Club and Schlitz Brewery.. It was in 1968 in Phoenix....They had to start the races late becasue the traffic on Black Canyon Highway was backed up five miles...

On Sunday, they ran all the class winner together for five laps....I ran my Konig, on Fred Hauenstein DeSilva Runabout to second...I was beart by a K Boat, but I beat the Super Stocks, Cracker Boxes and all inboard hydros...wth my "Quiet" (Mufflered Konig)...cute queen, nice money......

Well, maybe APBA did "invent" OPC...Here in a 1959 APBA Propeller Magazine is OPC...

Here is a picture from the inside of that 1959 Propeller Magazine...I'm 15 at the time...

Note Ann Strang's article for Region 7...Ann was Charlie Strang's mother... She loved me as a son...that is why I raced for OMC for so long...

Quincy Ad and Turner Pistons... my dad NEVER LIKE WISECO PISTONS, he was Wally Turner's friend until the end...In the OLD DAYS, Turner cast special pistons for Hill "A's and B's and C's"...My dad pinned all his pistons with brass pins, so in case they came out, they didn't damage the chrome cyclinder....none came out...but in case....My father built some amazing racing engines in his 90 years....

Siezcos weren't like even way back then, huh? (My Dad also used Turners until he couldn't get them any more.)

NOA rule books have champions for racing in pleasure boats in 1958, but no speed records for the classes, so my guess is 1958 was NOA's first year for OPC racing, but they didn't call it OPC yet, they call it "Amateur" and solid rules are in the rule book with the stipulation of a rule freeze until 1962.

Classes are listed for up to 80 cubic inch, which was all there was back then.

I wish I could find a WOA rule book from that time frame.
