Got a OMC GT200 from 88... What is wrong when grey wire from powerpack is giving no signal to rpm-dial...?
I have checked for continuity and tried diff.settings on back of dial.....Also power is ok(needle goes to 0 when key is turned on)...Thanks

First thing to check on a looper with a malfunctioning tachometer is the regulator/rectifier.

Gray wire from regulator should have about 8/9 volts with peak reading meter. If no voltage from gray wire, regulator , stator, or both.

DO YOU HAVE KEY ON POWER AT THE PURPLE WIRE? THIS TURNS ON THE REGULATOR. YOU CAN ALSO TRY TAKING THE GREY WIRE AND HOOKING IT UP DIRECTLY TO ONE OF THE YELLOWS WIRES FROM THE STATOR. IF YOU GET A TACH SIGNAL, YOUR REG/RECT IS BAD. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP US POSTED. MIKE

I did change the rectifier last year, when it suddently burned/melted...the whole print was almost gone....!
tach didnt work at that time either...
Mike... yes...there is power on the purple when key is turned...I can see that it resets the tach...
Will try with the yellow on stator...thanks again

If I get a reading on the yellow wires, then stator is ok...?
And could I use it like that for a while....?
when other rectifier blew it was after a run,2min. after power off
strange...!?
