Whats the water pressure reading ? If its extremely high look for a blockage of spent water leaving the block. When you changed heads did you notice any obstructions at the divider plate crossover ports on both sides of the block? That where alot of debree will and often does accumulate and cause heating issues.. If the pressure is low could be a water pump going away. Are your thermostats of the proper temperatures ? Mercury does make different 2 temp ranges, I would opt for the colder ones in this summer heat and heated ambient water temps....Has your poppett valve been installed properly and the outer ring braded back to the block ?( I had one eat my lunch a year or so back as I removed the outer ring closest to the block and glued it back instead of brading it and it got loose and caused heating issues as it wasn't seating into the block)If the water pressure fluxuating ? If so might be poppett valve needing a second look and make sure the outer most ring is secure ( firmly braded at least 3 places ) , whats the compression numbers and whats your WOT timing set at ? 33 CC heads on a 150 should not make that motor have over 135-145 cranking with the correct 1 MM head gasket installed and would not make an engine overheat nor would the addition of new reeds. My guess is if your water pressure is high you have an obstruction if low you water pump is toast , you've installed the high temp thermostats , if the pressure is fluxuating the poppet outer ring is loose...

good luck,
