Will a Yamaha tachs work on a Merc?

Hi I am repowering a 23' Center it had a pair of yamaha's on it, will the yamaha Tachs work with a BlackMax Merc? This would save a lot of time and and a couple hundred dollars.. Also would any one know what color wires to look for?

i went from a yamaha to a merc already and used the same tack. i beleive u are looking for a grey wire from the horness. some will correct me if i'm wrong.

yellow to purple
green to grey
black to black
