I am looking to buy a 1980 StarBuck Tunnel Hull 18ft. and I am wondering if anyone has any information. On where it was made what kind of horsepower you can put on it and such. This will be a project boat and when I get it i'm going to split the hull and put in new stringers, transom and floor. I got a 200hp 2.4 to go on it and i'm wondering if its going to be to much weight. If anyone has any info please let me know it will be greatly appreciated.

This boat was rated for 135hp. There have been many to blow over with V-6 power. The problem start`s with the transom being flush with the sponsons. To much trim is required to get the boat up to speed (80-ish) and if all goes well and the wend is down and there are no rollers your ok. Unfortunatly these are things we cannot control and if you round a corner at speed at run into a head wend or hit a wave it`s too late to trim down and over you go. A set back plate help`s so less trim can be used but the boat is still dangerous over 70mph. I would put nothing more than a 150hp motor on it. Sorry to be so negitive about this boat but I have alot of history with them and have seen several blow over at 80mph.

It was made in or around Denver Co. They were not safe boats as Bull already told you. Save your $800 and get something safer.
