OMC Guru's needed

I own a 1990 Johnson 40 horsepower 2cylinder outboard. Now depending on the year I know they offered this 2-cylinder model at 45, 48, 50, 55, and 60. I was wondering how much modification would be needed to bring the 40 horsepower up to these higher stock ratings. Not sure if is worth fooling with or just motoring up. Thanks, Naiscoot

cheap and easy

1. get 60 hp carbs

2. shave head .100

3. bump time to 21 or 22 degrees

4. open the exhaust up

i believe the dif btw 48 and 50 were the 48 was pre mix and 50 was vro
