Brucato PCU or ACU would be the BEST, of course...

Looking for a Mercury ECU. Been told an A-40 will work.Just wondering what is interchangeable with the analog box and does not have a limiter.

Merc boxes are lame and the used ones are over-priced.

Looking here:

A40 appears to be the ticket, with 7700 rpm limiter.

A Brucato box would be a worthwhile investment. Better throttle response, improved fuel economy, and programmable-everything, including the rev limiter, in the case of the PCU. Worth every penny.

For a man of your wealth that may be so,but for some of us who are not so fortunate, $950 is a little steep. As far as the Merc boxes being lame,I don't know what kinda problems you have had,but I have never had nothing but the Merc boxes ,(digital on the 260's I have had ,and analog on the Bridgeports I have had)and I have never had a problem out of any that I have ran except one that was modified by Rapair and they eventually made it right. So I wouldn't exactly call them lame but I guess thats a personal opinion.

A40s are good for the BP but do have the limiter. An A48 will run a 2.4 BP fine with leaner settings and have a 11500 Rev Limiter. With any first generation digital box the chips can be changed out to achieve what you are looking for. I have chips if you go this route.

Finally a straight answer! Thanks John. I guess now I just need to find an A-48.Thanks again,

Like I said any early digital EFI box can be changed to an A48 with a new chip so don't limit your search to just the A48. There are quite a few more
A49 stock 260 boxes and others out there cheap.
