If anyone over on the East Coast is interested...
A couple of us are heading over to Melbourne next Friday, July 6th (or Sat. morning, July 7th) and running down to Sebastian area to check out Capt. Hirams Sandbar. We'll probably stay in Melbourne Sat. night and run somewhere on Sunday too.

That's my turf :)
Sounds good to me.
We were going to take over one of the local islands 4th of July night and shoot off fireworks and drink heavily but guess it can wait till the weekend.
You'll love it there!
Squid Lips is one of the best seafood restaurants we've been to since getting down here and it's about 1/4 mile north of Hirams, is on stilts over the water and has docks.
Two more close pubs you can hit by boat if you don't mind walking through muck to get to them.

Jeff,
Susan and I spent the night at Capt. Hirams and then rented a Beachfront House at Sebastan Inlet [actually Floridana Beach] for a week and were kind of disappointed with Capt. Hirams. They could not even get us a working TV on a $250+ a night waterfront room.
Hopefully the wind will die down for ya'll, it blew 25-35 the whole week we were there. We spent more time on the scooters than on the water. We did get some good jumping on our 'skis just out of the inlet.

That sucks. We're going to run down by boat and drink some of their beer, but we'll be running back up to Melbourne for Saturday night.
Not too concerned with the wind since I won't be in the Allison. :D :p It hasn't been too bad recently, at least not like it was over Memorial Day. (I really got to see how well the Pantera runs in rough water. ;))

was fine.
It gets bumpy for the small boats as much from boat traffic as anything but I've never been truned back in my 18' cenetr console.
There's a sand bar over by the inlet that attracts probably 50+ boats on regular weekends let alone on a holiday.
Definately not fast wwater but fun water.
Jeff, would love to see yur Pantera!
Here's some pixs from last weekend. (too big)
Have seen schools of feeding dolphin every time there.
PLus, pick an island and move in!

I'd like to do the Hiram's trip some time, but that Sunday the 8th we're getting together in Jupiter.
Its a nice run to put in north of the Ft. Pierce inlet and run up through Vero to Sebastian. Few idle zones, lots of scenery, mostly protected. It only really opens up north of the Wabasso bridge, but the Eliminator runs fine in the chop. Could be tough in a smaller boat.
Maybe we can set up a run for later in the summer.
