I had to repair stripped spark plug threads in one cylinder (stock 260). I don't like helicoils, so I put a threaded steel insert in. The repair worked great, but I noticed something I'm not sure about.

The spark plug in that hole shows it's running hot...it looks white. However, the piston top in that cylinder looks really rich and washed just like the other (5) cylinders. The other (5) plugs look washed and rich. I'm pretty certain that steel insert isn't allowing heat to be dissipated from that plug to the head as well as an unrepaired aluminum thread.

Plugs are B9HS-10. Thinking about putting a BUHW in that hole....

Anyone with similar experience? Opinions?
