I have a pair of Older 240 Offshores (Updrafts). I currently run B9HS-10's in it.

My problem is that we have a very long Idle Zone to get to and from the dock (20-25min). The motors seem to load up a little and make it very difficult to dock. Hard starting in gear, etc.... I'm sure it is loading up a little.

I'd like to try a little hotter plug to minimize these difficulties.

The boat as stated earlier sees a bunch of idle time, and is cruised in the 4500-5000 rpm range with an occasional 7000-7200 rpm blast. Maybe once or twice an outing for less than a minute at a time.

What is your opinion of trying a B8HS-10? Is this too hot for the application?

Oh yea, I'm running Amsoil at 50 to 1

Thanks In Advance for the Advice

Wow, you certainly have a lot of patience, do you? To the top after two and a half hours...

An NGK 8 should be fine in a 2.4 EFI as long as compression is stock. With higher compression, an 9 is called for, or so I am told.

Also, add some more oil to the fuel for those 7200 rpm blasts.

And maybe some different oil, given the track record of the said oil in Merc's...

Than You for the advice. Sorry for the to the top thing. The forum had a lot of activity and it looked as though it was going to fall of the first page while I was out of the office.

What do you recommend for a mixture , 40 to or so?

I'll do a search on Amsoil, but what adverse affeacts are Mercs having with it?
