Dont give me that same old bs line that its illegal!!!LOL I know some one has to have done something to 1 buy now. How about drilling some holes in the mid like my 280 was done. Would that improve anything?? Hurt any thing? I would love to atleast have the sound of the old 280 back! Would it make it sound the same? Besides isnt legal to modify these if you were going to race it???:)

The Midsection looks to be the same as the regular 3.0L (non Optimax) so I guess cutting the can or replacing with a MAD EFI Tuner would get you the sound you are looking for. Not sure how much airflow is increased and if the ECU will have a fit.

check out simon motor sports he has some good mods for making those loud... popet diverter kit.. you end up cutting the end of the tuner off so i would emagine it would make it growl....

and i think it is only like 245 bucks and if you have a little bit of wrenching skills pretty easy...

Make sure to check that the poppet will fit under the stock cowl. Would not go under my non-optimax 3.0 cowl.

Cutting the can will make is just as noisy or maybe more than a 300x.

well the xs is an optimax motor if i am nor mistaken and as long as you have a bottom cowl you should be all set.. call simon motor sports.. he is a great guy and will talk to you about the whole deal.. he is realy good about call backs and ships his stuff out right away..

Spent a couple hours last night installing a poppet valve on a 2006 300x with the alien cowl. (the one that would not fit under mine) Very tight fit under the huge alien cover. Not an 1/8 inch to spare. Check before you drop the $200 that it will fit under the stock Opti lower cowl without cutting holes in it.
