OK I am sure that this has been debated but if you were going to add a nose cone added to your CLE to drag race who would you use and WHY??? Cost vs performance??? Bobs, Titus, ??? Who else?

Thanks

Rick, I've had Bobs and Titus and I've put them on myself. Haven't noticed any diff from the ones put on to the ones I put on. Well, the painting was better from Titus but not worth the money to me. The next one I'm going to try is a Mazcone from John @ Mazco. They cost 100 bucks plus shipping and Baker likes them. They aren't listed on the web page but I asked them and they had them. Good luck.

Mr. baker turned me on to the mazcone, he thought it was as fast as any out there, its only 100 bucks. john was very helpfull to me this was my first nosecone so i had some questions and he was very happy to answer them. the cost to install mine was a bit more but i used stainless fittings braided hose and AN looking hose clamp fittings, but was still far less than having it done. i had it tig welded tacked in 6 spots then used 3M panel bonding epoxy, then finished it off and painted it . i paint for a living so it was no big deal. thought i would give my two cents.

Not wanting to do it myself, wondered who and why people are using???

Opinions taken freely, LOL. Looking for real world 1/4 mile info

Personally, I don't think you're going to see a consistent number in 1/4 mile just because you'd have to get several gearcases from the same person to test. As much as they try to do the exact same job on every gearcase, they're slightly different to the point that you might have one Titus that runs great and one that doesn't run so well - same with Bob's.

There are places that will install a nosecone you provide so maybe ask. Obviously Titus and Bob's won't, but you might find somebody who does. Many prop shops do the work as well. I don't know if they're still doing it, but Tucker's Landing in southern Indiana did a lot of our SportMaster mods (before we found out that cutting and welding the SportMaster skeg led to problems) and they also did nosecone work. They were reasonable and may be somebody to add to the list.

You work in a body shop that explains the 3m panel bonding adhesive. How's it holding up? I swear my guys eat that stuff for lunch, I just ordered another case of it...Scott

i just got it put on about a month ago. its a "mazcone."the first time out was fishing a week day tournament on a local river and hit some floating wood branchs about 4-5in thick, nothing major but i was doing about 55-60mph just tore off some paint. i two toned it black and silver base clear. it kinda looks like a sportmaster, kinda. i had it tig welded (tacked) then used almost a whole tube of it. i have never had a failure with it, i mostly paint but do some stuff on my own as well. i feel pretty confident im not gona have any problems, but like i said i just put it on

Titus does a great job. I believe when they were tested Titus was fastest.

i have a bobs and a titus. with no mods the bobs was definately faster. after sanding and shapeing for 6 hours i got the titus to run. had to cut and thin skeg alot. my opinion is that the bobs is a little faster without haveing to do any mods myself. but i modified both of them and now run same times with either one.
