back when I was 12 years old,I opened the exhaust holes on the mid section,don't really know if it was faster,but it sure sounded faster!!

What year is the 6? If it's a mid-80s to mid-90s, you can swap in an 8hp carb or an early 80s 7.5 carb :)

That's probably punched out as it is then. I think the 8s were pushing it for their displacement as it was. The 9.9 was an animal in comparison.
