80 HP Merc.

A friend just bought an 80 HP Merc. It is a late 80s 3 cylinder. That still has the oil injection on it, and doesn't know if the vent should be open or not on the tank. I remember my
dual tank system on my V-6 that was pressurized, so I told him to close it. Was I rite?
Should it be open? If he blows the eng. he's gonna hate me!

If you don't get a good answer to your question, pre-mix your oil in the gas tank at 50:1, then watch the level in the oil tank. If the oil pump is working, you should notice the oil level going down in the tank. At any rate you will be safe! :) Capnzee

My yamaha is open but it's above the injection.

if the line going to the tank is a double line than your guess is correct??

But yeea a mixed oil and watch the tank is good advise either way

it's a vented tank, no pressure involved.
