I currently have a two wire rule pump with a on/off switch in the dash. if I buy a three wire automatic pump can I just attach one brown lead to pos battery and hook the other brown and the ground to the dash two way switch. Will I be able to turn it on manually and than when the batteries are shut off it will still work on auto. Thanks Mike

I think so but what ever you buy will have directions just make sure it has the built in float switch

I'm trying to recall exactly how mine is wired up. What you describe sounds like it would work alright. One thing to be sure to do though, make sure you put a fuse on the lead going to the battery as close to the battery as possible.

Yes but make sure the black ground wire does not go to the switch but a ground buss or the battery.
You can also make the two wire pump do the same thing. Run your tan wire to the switch on the dash. Black ground wire to the battery. Get a float switch and put one of it's tan wires to the battery and the other connect to the tan from the pump BEFORE the switch. In this manner the manual or auto switch will give it juice.
