Can you bring us up to speed on how you classify the boats, the length of the course, etc. I forgot. I have a gap in the race schedule so I may hit one or two of the July dates. Need to know what I need to do, etc.
Thanks.

Any boat can run. You can run alone or against anyone you want. Racing ends at 8:00 PM. We have had Jets, Outboards, and V-Drives. The course is 800 feet. It is all for fun. You can always side bet if wanted. Usually run two boats at a time and sometimes three. It is mostly for the peole watching and just getting together to BS! We have Water Cops there that help with boat traffic. If you have no lights you either have to get towed in or you just have to go in sooner. Generally the water patrol is good about it. It is a lot of fun! :D

Lots of Fridays at the sandbar:D I'll have to see if I can rattle a CHAIN:eek:
THANKS to Tom, Larry, and Roger for making this work out again this season. I'll definitely try to make it to a few of the Marble Lake dates, even if only to watch.

I have not visited Mud Lake yet, but I've been to Marble Lake twice, and it's a PERFECT site, close to the launch ramp. The drag site is a calm, protected strip of water between an island and a point, and there's a large shallow sandbar off the point where everyone can park and hang out. It's a good party, even before the racing starts!
By the way, this is on the Coldwater chain of lakes. Marble Lake is near Quincy, MI. Take I-69 to US-12 East, 5 miles, turn south onto Ray Quincy Rd., 2 miles, RIGHT onto Wildwood Rd. Takes you right to the launch ramp.
Roger, could you post directions to the Mud Lake site?

I'm just ready to throw my new piece in the water today.
I'm not up to drag racing quite yet as I need to replace the prop shaft with one made out of cryptonite (Aquamet22) but I'd like to go there and watch Rich S or some other hard cores run on the 29th.

Hey Sam, I'll be about ready ta meet up with for my first run then... To much goin on ta make it before then.
THANKS to Tom, Larry, and Roger for making this happen again this season.
Mark get that contraption goin so we can PLAY:eek: :D I think your gonna have ta give me some LENGTHS!!!;)
About 2.5 hours from the Ambassador Bridge, as long as there's no traffic issues. Take I-94 to US-12 west, all the way into Quincy.
You can also take I-94 to US-127 or I-69 South, but it's seriously not any quicker unless you consistently drive 80 mph the whole way. Part of this is my work commute.
X marks the spot.

I have my doubts that this will accellerate like the jet boat did.
Once she gets hook up though  the top end pull should be incredible.
I'm parralelling the setup of a guy I know in norcal who has this same boat and runs 135 in the 1/4 with it.

Directions for Mud lake. There is a launch right off of Central road about 1/4 mile west of where Fremont Road crosses Central. You can see the launch from the road. It is a channel launch. Once in the channel head south and the first lake you come to is Mud Lake. No sand bar here. It is still fun. This next Friday we have a new Water Patrol guy so a few of us are going to go and meet him. Then talk about any concerns he might have. I think we are getting some old no wake buoys, from the water patrol, to mark off our course with. Sounds like a good start to the summer!
THANKS!

Who's planning on showing up on this date?
I was just about to pull this thread back to the top!
I'll be there for sure on the 29th, probably around 6 pm. I will have the Nikon with me, so expect to see some high-quality racing photos of your boat if you show up to race.
I also may attempt to drag race some of the other slow boats. :D

are there any safety requirements( helmet, lifeline???)
Surprisingly not, in the past, a bit disturbing. I'll be wearing my lifeline if I attempt to race.
The short course helps keep top speed reasonably safe for this homegrown fun.

I can make the 29th.
I've got a few hours on my new toy now.
I was at Torch today (23rd) Everything runs good.
I have to retract the statement of this boat not accelerating like the jet boat though. :D It exceeded my expectations and this thing is beyond my driving abilities too. It's an animal.
I've got some handling concerns to work out. I think I need to go back to the two blade prop. I need another testosterone injection too.
All this after having detuned the motor from what it was in the jet boat.
Now I'm running pump gas.
Clocks will be cleaned and wagons will be fixed next Friday from the sounds of things. :D See you there.

It looks like there's an overwhelming response to the June 29th race:rolleyes:. I figured that if none of the guys that put this thing on have made a reply to my post, there must be a reason. So I made a phone call and spoke with one of the local Coldwater racers last night. He said that most of the guys in that area don't have there boats ready for racing yet and basically not to waste my time driving all the way down there for this race date. Not what I wanted to hear, but I appreciate his honesty. Looks like me, Mark (Unchained), and the Skipster will be spending our weekend at Hardy.:D Maybe Pyro and Hosejockey need to make the trip up to Hardy instead..............there's an old Glastron CVX 17 lurking around up there that would be more than willing to run those Hydrostreams. Just dial 1-800-LETS GET IT ON!!!!!!!!

Thanks for following up on that Rob.
I don't want to go that far for no shows either.
I don't know how much racing I could do anyways unless I had a lane about 100' wide with this squirrley mo fo.
I talked to Drag 120 and he was going to go but he mentioned another fast guy who didn't have the motor assembled yet and could probably not go.
Hardy is only 50 minutes from my house and I know I'll have fun there.
I guess Mich Hot Boats has a meet on July 7-8 so I plan on being there those days for sure.
Jeez guys, with an attitude like that, why bother? "I'm not going because some others aren't going." If everybody did that, nobody would ever show up anywhere. Come on, guys! Bring a rowboat and a case of beer if your race motors aren't ready!

I will be there with my new Grand Prix SST120 boat. I don't really care who is all there. I have raced when it was just me and my Dad and we had a blast. I have talked with quite a few local spectators that just like to see the boats run and will be there to have a good time. Ultimately that is what it is all about, FUN.:D How often do you get a chance to legally drive as fast as you want and not worry about getting a ticket.
See you there Pyro!
Thanks for your support!

Thanks for the feedback.
Some guys looked at me funny when I told them that boat was scary fast like I was making it up.
It's a whole different program than what I've ever had before with the jet drives.
I was sorry to hear about the crash but glad Roger is going to be OK.
I thought the Marble lake course was only supposed to be 1/8 mi or 800' and that was supposed to keep the speeds down.
I went 114 racing Rob on the course there and I thought that was moving pretty fast for on an open lake. Maybe some basic bouys at the finish line would be a clue for racers to backoff.
Since there has been a crash there now will that put an end to the racing ?
not sure. I hope it doesn't.
Roger was making test passes, he had a running start on the third pass. He won't need a running start to get it going that fast at the buoy once he gets it fixed and back in the saddle. It might be the only thing out there that can hold a candle to the horsepower-to-weight ratio you've got. It's very light. If he can get a handle on the trim, and IF the cops will still let him run it, :D that setup is going to clean a few clocks at the strip, believe me.

I forgot to mention........
I was taken for a QUICK ride in Marks' new boat. Believe me, none of us are even close to being in his league. I'm just glad Mark backed off the throttle when he did, cuz I was just about ready to pull the bottom of his dash clean off. It may have only lasted 3 or 4 seconds, but it was the most hair raising, adrenaline pumping, not sure if it was pure excitement or just shy of being terrified experience I've ever had in a boat! IMPRESSIVE!!! Thanks for the ride Mark.:D

Thanks Rob,
I really didn't comprehend what a monster this would be when I assembled it. The turbo engine feels all the more radical with a prop hooked to it than with a jet pump hooked to it.

Joe, feel free to bring your boat on up here to Blarney Island where we run over cruiser wakes and rollers (that's where your boat used to live anyway - it would be like Homecoming). We have to race perpendicular to the boat traffic out in the lake and it gets real hairy. Especially when there are 200-300 boats that come out and watch so there are wakes rolling every direction and the boats go from 16' runabouts to 39' MTIs, 42' Fountains, etc. That's why we always love it when it gets windy and whitecapped at Jasper....that's definitely to our advantage.
Even if you're faster than us, I would bet money that we're a lot stupider than you and won't let off. :D
what's the word? Racing this Friday? Need me to bring the bouys?

Tonight still depends on the weather???? It says 50% on rain but chance of Thunderstorms. Any kind of lightning and the races will be cancelled. If you have to travel very far and are not sure. I would not chance it. If I know for sure the races are cancelled. I will post by 4:30 PM.

Sorry Jim, I didn't have my camera with me. I hope I found my everlasting problem of low RPM today but will know for sure this week. I was testing my new 20 pitch prop for the short courses. It hits 6800 out of the hole and pulls pretty hard. Hopefully I'll be at the next Marble get together. I also had a good time talking to everyone (and the water patrol several times). I too want to thank all the parties that put this on, Kudos to you! It does take a lot of behind the scenes work. Thanks again, Tom.

how long are the courses, im trying to figure out how to set my boat up but have no idea what kind of speed and lengths im looking for. with my 24p i can get out of the hole in a hurry but pretty much spent around the 80 mph mark just under 8000 rpm
800 feet, I think. These guys spin 'em hard and leave quick. You may consider trying a 22p. I'm sure I'll get my ass handed to me over and over. I can barely pull 80 mph in 850 feet with my 24, around 7500 rpm.

MPH isn't everything but it sure does help. Did I say that out loud?? If you have a quicker et but less mph you still win the race. Too big of a prop and you may not catch the other guy before he crosses the finish but you will have more top end shooting out the end of the course. Not sure of the 800 foot course but (Chad) you aren't too bad with those numbers. In the old days, my 120 ran 109 at the 1/8 mile but the Warrior isn't that stout......right now. :)

Yeah this does suck! Last time I was down at the access it was just over the dock! At least we're not completely shut down like Northern Indiana....

Dang it!! I just picked up 1300 RPM and 10 MPH since the Rumble!! Looks like Hardy will be the proving grounds!! Thanks for the updates fellas!! Wish I could have stayed longer at the Rumble but had to be back early. I was all ready for today too. Amazing what no rev limiter will do. :) Tom

Sorry, I can't make it this week. Too many things happening at work. I'm going to Hardy Sat but probably not until early afternoon (after work).

Wild Bill, bring that Ally up to Hardy this weekend. There's hot boats from all around the surrounding Michigan area that show up..........all but the Coldwater guys. I think they're skeeerd!:p :D

Remember we run a full 1/4 mile up here, not just 700 or 800' like at Coldwater. I think that's why most of the Coldwater boys never make the trip up........
