That "J" has a very flat bottom. I would expect it would turn a 19-21P at mid 40's mph with the 115. Typically the 17's ran low 50's with inline 150's and the 19's ran 70 ish with a 225.

Where is the boat located? Has it been recored, new floor, transom? I'd guess 6000-7000 if it really is mint. You could track the Boat Trader for a while to get an idea of pricing.

Chris's speed numbers are probably accurate. You can do better with some setback and propping, but most J's are set up for skiing only.

Chris and Dave are both right on the money! I had 17' with a 150 merc on it set up on the second hole up and a 24 three blade she would run right about 52mph. She was a very ruff ridin and wet boat. See if you can get a hold of FLATOUT he can set you up right the first time!

I'd start with a 20" Laser or Hi Five. That would probably give you around 45 mph max, and a good pull out.

It should be possible to find a used Laser pretty cheap.

High fives were/are made by Merc for skiing.

Lasers are cheap and should work pretty good for skiing, and OK for speed. Look for used props here, and at BBC, and on Ebay. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/props4sale2.htm

You need even pitched Laser and High Fives. The odd pitched Lasers won't fit your lower unit.

$150 or less should get you a nice prop.
