My six-month old super v 27 aqua craft electric has suddenly decided not to run right anymore. won't get on plane. Acts like it doesn't have enough power. Are there any tests I can run? Electric motor, battery? What usually goes bad on these boats.

if the drive line is free, i would check the motor and battery pack. the motor could be brushes and commutater issues. when i raced 1/10 off road electric, motor cleaning and brushes were huge. dirt probably helped, but i'd still check. your battery charger may have a discharge function. it can be used to check a pack, read the instructions. not real accurate, but it should point you in a direction. what type of prop? plastic? if your son has run it too shallow, you may have lost enough diameter so the prop won't push enough anymore. hope this helps.

Motor is brushless, so I went looking first for loose connections. Bad solder job from the factory on one of the battery leads to the motor...came off in my hand. thanks for the info.

It's OK, I'm a bit retarded myself at times. ;)

Hey: Don't feel so bad. I did change the prop. It turned out to be the batteries I was using and not the connection. Changing the batteries and replacing the plastic prop with a stainless made a big difference.
