Does anyone know if the mid sections are interchangeable between a omc 88 hp spl crossflow and a 1987 140 looper. I'm trying to convert the 140 looper from a 25" shaft to a 20" shaft. Thank You in advance!

I'm pretty sure they are. Most OMC 4 cylinders are pretty much the same. I would take a good look at the exhaust ports on both. You might want to gasket match them. I've got a line on a modified 20" can if you need one. We have so many pieced together OMCs, V4s mixed with V6s. 77', 74', 87' and many,many spare parts.

You will have too change the exhaust plate and shift shaft.You will have to use shafts that are the correct length.You can have them cut and welded to make them shorter but I wouldn't try to stretch the drive shaft.:cool:
