Looking for as much bow lift and little slip. I now have a 3.0l and looking for the last prop I will ever own . Boat is a 21' checkmate closed bow. I am now running 12" of set back, I was running close to 17" setback with the 2.5 motor on there. What do you guys/girls think. Thanks

I'd go with the Bravo but would want to try both. I've run both. The Bravo is a great prop for an outboard if you've got the poop to turn it.

Thats my thinking as well. This motor started life as a 2002 250hp EFI. Not optiboom. With some of the Eric's product I am hoping to be close to 300hp. I was running a 25p trophy on my 2.5 motor and it did well but not the fastest on top. The trophy was good but I have a feeling its not going to be large enough. What about a hydromotive 4 blade? 300x stocker, what did you end up with the trophy or bravo..

I prefer the bravo to the trophy on my boat, but my engine is kinda high, so the bravo slips less....

A bigger, heavier boat like that with a big block outboard is gonna do better with the Bravo than the Trophy. As for the Hydromotive, you'll want the Quad IV X OB. It's the big barrel prop like the Bravo, the X OT is the "over/thru" hub like a Trophy and better for lighter, faster rigs. They Hydromotive is gonna be faster, tougher and drive better than either of the Merc wheels.
Good luck,
RA

Good to hear that. I was looking at the size of the Quad IV. Its the large barrel and ears like the Bravo. There is a nice one on ebay now but I have no clue on what pitch to start with the gears in my 3.0 case. I believe its a 1.72 or 1.75 gear.

as a spare prop. Sold the Trophy. Favorite prop is a very customized Hill Drag 5 that was an ordeal I wouldn't recommend to anyone else but runs great. Would love to try the Hydromotive because more than one guy has said they are the s**t. They are very helpful on the phone and it could be the best prop for your set up.

28". Been worked a couple times by Bronson. Went 90.4 GPS with 3 guys, tools, spare prop and about 25 gal of gas. 1.75 gears.

YEAH YOU:D.
Just trying to get an idea on what pitch I should start with. God I wish you where closer to try one of these dam props before I spend $500 plus on one...

Just go to props for sale and pick up a use one for about half that. I'm sure some of the other guys on here with boats like yours can tell you what pitch you might want. Or on the Hydromotive thing,,, give them a call and they will set you up. If you were going to spent $500 I would go that route. I would think you would be able to borrow a Bravo from some stern drive guy. You might have a hard time with the hole shot without vent holes in the hub but once you got going you could see how it ran??

When I had the 300x on my 21 Checkmate Pulsare, a Hydromotive 4 blade [very worked] or a Performance Propeller's Drag four gave me the best top end. The Trophy works best with the 225 Opti.

Just the man I was wanting to talk to. I am going to need to get a setback bracket from you. 8" back and 5" up. RED!. My motor is a 2002 250hp EFI. What pitch where you running on the 225 opti and the 300x to achieve 92 mph!!! THAT IS MY GOAL IS 90!!!!

Have Had Good Results On 21' Starflite W/200 Efi 6" Cmc Jack
And Hydromotive 24" 3 Blade @ 6300 Rpm. Also 21" Mirage Plus 3 Blade Worked Well, Both Had Been Worked By Dah Pro-pellers In Burlington Wi, Thinned/balanced Got Another 200 Rpm Out Of Both Wheels.:d The Mirage Bumped Limiter Easily Wish I Had A 23" To Try!Or A Tempest 23" I Heard Good Things From Another C'mate Guy!:d
I WOULD TRY SOME OF THESE INSTEAD OF ANY 4 BLADE.MOST CASES 3 BLADES WILL BE FASTER ON TOP!

I had the 2.5 motor on the boat before buying the 3.0. Yes your right I did have the best top end numbers with the laser's and tempests. But I thinking the bravo will carry the hull better being that I have more torque now then before. I ran a 25p trophy on my 2.5 and it made the boat feel lighter but was 2 mph slower than my choppers and 3 blade lasers. With the 3 blade props I was blowing them out of the water trying to get on plane where the 4 blade just yanked the boat out of the water.

I ran a box stock 26" Bravo on my 21 Superboat/300X this weekend and the results were promising when compared to my standard Trophy. I had a friend riding with me so it was kind of difficult to fully evaluate the boat's performance however, I'm already running the engine higher above the pad than I could with a Trophy and the boat hooks up solidly in the chop. The hole shot was aweful, but should improve when I switch to a lab finished and ventillated version.
