01 Dodge 2500 cummins no a/c. I dont hear the compresser running when I flip the switch. I checked the fuse box under the dash and under the hood. Any hints?

Possibly a leak in the system and your freon is gone. The low pressure switch won't let the compressor run. Your local service station can check that very quickly by connecting a pressure guage to the system.

Is that a instant off kinda thing? It was working just fine, shut it off to run in for beer came back out started the truck and no ac.

It is possible for it to happen like that but sounds to me more like a switch failure or a wireing issue. The way the deisels shake around I suggest first unplug all the electrical connectors in the system and plug them back in, one at a time, and see if comes back on.
I could give you some trouble shooting tips but if your not familiar with A/C systems I suggest not messing with it and bringing it to some one qualified.

My bet is the evaporator is bad, common dodge failure unfortunately. Mine is out on my 96 1500

If it leaked out that fast there will be compressor oil near the spot of the leak, look around for the oily mess.I usualy go right to the low cutoff swith and jump it if the compressor starts up that tells me no gas or a bad switch ..no gas being the cause most often.

on my ford the ac clutch wiring connector came loose and did just that... worked one minute... not the next... took a while to find but all was good after cleaning the wiring.. and reinstalling the connector..

check the horn fuse in the underhood fuse box.. it also controls the a/c
