it will cut a bit of bottom.. but not top.... may drop a bit on midrange as well.. but after 3500 it should flow nice to about 7500... it should work fine..... beats the long arse tuna from the old 2 leter ya got..

It ain't gonna kill anything, ain't gonna hurt anything..................... you'll probably never feel any difference. Tuners are the most over-worried about piece that's ever been talked about around on an outboard motor. From the very worst to the very best, the difference in performance on a lake boat is neglible at most, usually undetectable.
9 times out of 10 when somebody changes a tuner they've made OTHER CHANGES at the same time, and for some reason, always want to give the tuner the credit. We've gone to the lake and swapped ONLY the tuner on the same boat on the same engine on the same day, from VERY LONG to short, and even had a G Farce that broke off even with the bottom of the powerhead and couldn't read it on the speedo. (annoying rattle from rubbing on driveshaft by broken off part was only reason we knew it was gone)
Merc's first V6 race tuners in the first Champ style mid was over 10 inches long, and they went from that directly to a short one that was about 3 or 4 in the same motor. The change may've made some SMALL difference in how the engines reacted on closed course race boats, but I could NEVER record a measurable difference on my lake toys between the two. (so much for the argument that LONG tuners or for low RPM motors and are restrictive) The T4 race motor didn't even have a tuner on the bottom of the powerhead, but rather a flat plate.
Tuners are SMALL tuning aids, NOT big performance enhancers or killers. The time/effort/money is a lot better spent on other things, but almost NOBODY really tests them under controlled conditions, so the magical myths live on.

Here are 3 old Merc race tuners. The one in the middle is the first design from a T3 V6. Soon after I heard about the next generation "magic" tuner that would increase HP, so I ordered one new. The difference on a boat that would run 90's at the time was ZERO, ZIP, NIL.
NO, I didn't try and measure zero to anything, except for seat of the pants feel, recorded top speed was all we measured, but both were run on the same day on the same boat. People who spend time and money to enhance the performance of a lake toy are usually looking for top end numbers, something that shows on the speedo. In that case, tuner experimentation is a waste. The boats that benefit are roundy round or drag racers where every hundreth of a second makes a difference.
The one on the left is from a T2X Merc race motor. It was roughly double the length of the stock tuner on the production engine counterpart to the T2X. I guess back then those dumb ole' Merc engineers that did it full time with NO time or budget restraints just couldn't figure out that long tuners were restrictive and intentionally put on engines to cut horsepower.

Ok, just wondering...took boat out with the 2.4 200 on it for the first time yesterday and it goes about 1-2mph faster than my 175 2.0 and I've added a jackplate...only made a couple spins around the lake, but i gotta do some checks on it, timing, etc...

play with setup and more speed will come...

Well, took the 2.5 tuner out and put the 2.4 tuner in and gained a solid 300rpm on the top end...I've got a 25 Laser 2 that has seen better days, and today the lake was kinda choppy, and at 6000 rpm I had 62 on the GPS. I could feel the boat almost lifting free of the water and when it did I could feel it want to try to fly, but not quite. The shaft is 3" below the pad and have a solid 15+ lbs of water press, so I'm gonna bring it up a little. Gonna try to find a 23-25" Tempest and see what that does. Also a local guy here has a 24" chopper I'm gonna try too...anyway, that's the update. The 2.4 tuner is worth 300rpm over a 2.5 tuner. Moral of the story, shoulda listened to T-rex's advise in another thread I posed a while back. Have a good one!
