Guys,

I just replaced the clamshell cowling on my 85 200 with a one piece "bucket" cowl (95 XRI cowling). I had to remove the airbox cover for clearance. I believe my engine had the "choke" style airbox, with the bolts in the center that screw into the carbs. My question is what is the most common thing to do in this case? Do I modify the airbox to fit, or get on off a different year engine?

Can you throw up a pic of what your airbox looks like?

just did the same thing on my wifes boat and the xri bucket cowl fit with out any clearance trouble what so ever ...the bucket cowl is so much bigger so there should.... be lots of room.....

Take it off and toss it!

Forget it!

Run it like ya stole it!

Al whats up with the Busness card??

anyway I just put air boxes on my clam shells , the top mount of the clam has the plug for the cowl and it needed that support to save the back bone rubbers,
But with the drop on you can take it off or just run the aluminum half if it makes you feel better..It will breath just fine
