Me and Ted were talking about mileage or speed.. thinking about 200xs. Anyone running this set up... give us some numbers.. Should "Too fast to pass" change his name to "too slow to go":D:D

Right after the warranty runs out and you stick that thing you'll kick yourself in the ass !! Put a 30 on and get 3.5 miles per gallon!!!!!! You can't burn enough gas to make it worth it !!

We get 3.5 to 4 all the time now...would it be worth it to get 8 to 10 and lose a little top speed and acceleration?

Gotta admit, and XS with a warranty and a lot better mileage does not sound all that bad. Of course if any of you see me looking at and E-tech, get a priest and throw some holy water on me. :D

We have a guy up here, John S., I think his sign in name is, who was running a 200xs on a xb02 bass racer and decided to go with the bigger motor (260ss). If he sees this thread maybe he will give his reasons. I know for playing I would not be happy with a 200. Maybe if I just did fishing tourneys....Scott

using a 200xs on a 20' HS voyager 1988 and ful smartcraft plus gps. at 54 mph i can get 6.0mpg+-. at 45 its 70-7.4 [cant remember]. wot gos to about 3.3. compared to the 1996 200efi i go thru less than 1/2 the gas per week end.

In our group we have a 200xs on a 2003 running low 90's and getting almost 7 when cruising. Don't scare me Foley. I just got a 200xs for my xb2002.

Those are some good speeds.. like to hear that..even at 7 mpg thats still twice what we get now.. that might be nice when gas goes to 4 or 5 dollars a gallon.. thanks for the input.

I get 6.5-7mpg with a 280 at cruise speed (80-90 at 6200 or so, 30p real ET) I assume a 260 with a PCU should do similar, from the factory the 280/motorola fuel curve seems VERY close to the edge. From what "clockwork orange" said, the 200xs on his mirage was getting EXCELLENT mpg also, and would still run over 100.

I have 2 friends with 200xs motors..... they WERE great. Neither made it too 150hours, one barely made 100hours both locked up and chucked a rod. Merc didn't do a thing!

I concidered this same thing a few mounths back . Talking with the local Mercury Dealer , We decided it wasn't what I needed . When the warranty runs out the repair cost out weigh the fuel savings . Besides ,I can buy alot of gas for $14,000.oo !!! Rich Martin 018:eek:
