A 10" set back on a 16' round bottom boat is not going to keep the bow down. I hope all of your safety equipment is in order (dual steering, foot throttle, kill switch, etc). You are going to need it. As a 16' Sidewinder gets loose, the round bottom will chine walk like a son of a gun.

I added a 7" x 60" pad to my 18' Sidewinder and got rid of the chinewalk. It's unbelievable how much of an improvment it made to the handling of the boat. It's very smooth and stable, even in the rough water. High winds and rough water yesterday and I never got wet. You Sidewinder guys know what I'm talking about. Used to get the snot beat out of me in rough water. Not any more. Check out the threads at sidewinder-boats.com

I've posted photos and comments under the restoration section at http://www.sidewinder-boats.com

I had to make some repairs to cracks in hull anyway and decided to add the pad at the same time. I think it took about an extra 6 hours or so in addition to the repairs. I put a quick coat of primer over the pad area to protect it until I tested it to make sure it worked. Now I will do the gelcote.

Alot stress, on mine at least plate and do it right. I only went 6 inches. Spread the weight I did on a rallysport same as a 16sidewinder but lighter. I went back to a smaller engine found with the 16 rounded pad you can use less in weight in motor and get more from some of the old school 99ci motors. Im teetering at 70s and thats in chop with a modded L6. It does soil the shorts sometimes for sure. With the v-6 unless you do some hull mods to the bottom your the man for sure the 235 I had lets just say I got wet and that was years ago and will not attempt that anytime soon. Just buy a better boat for speed just opion and I would not sell mine. Rick
