electrical problem

When i recently had a new power head installed on my 99 pro max, it has developed electrical problems. I ran the boat for about 3 hours to start the break in,when it started to surge at lower speeds. My mechanic checked it out and told me the stator went bad. also both voltage regulators have cracks in them and one is leaking some. The connections all seem to be good, can this be just a coincidence? i would hate to buy this stuff and have it happen again. Any ideas???? Thx Rick von Kramer

I'm by no means an expert, but most likely it's just coincidence. A bad stator could possibly fry your regulators. I would put the new parts on and be done with it.
