etec tach wont work

my buddy has an e tec on his bass boat and the tach stopped working this weekend. Does it have a rectifier like a merc or something else that I should check after I check the tach and all the connections. Thanks

Does the tack have the warning lights in it? if so do the lights and horn work? if it has lights/horn and they no longer work make sure it is still plugged in good.

Also through a volt meter on battery and see if its charging. If its not charing system might be cause. I think ecu rectifies charge but not sure. Hopefully will be charge coil if its that.

have had a few of the E-TEC tach's stop working for no apparent reason after a few hours of opperation.

turns out the units have been faulty.

luckily for the customers they have been replaced under warranty.

tell him to see his local dealer about replacement.

the tacho on the E-tecs are an output of the EMM.
long as its plugged in it should opperate.
