I was just checking out your "cherry 2.4" on the BYUBOYZ site and you didn't mention anything about the 2nd fingerport hole in the right piston.
Does anybody know of this mod, and if it works ?
See attached

Also, is this just rubber tube? or something special ?

Burke, the second hole on the piston does work...if the piston would have been a forged piston, I would have just elongated the hole, but being cast, I left the bridge for strength...I don't know if enolgating the hole in the cast piston would have weakened it too much or not, but I didn't want to take the chance...If U want to know the diffrence it made, U have to talk to John, the owner, He can tell U the diffrence better than I can...The diverters are 5/16" fuel line...Merc will gladly sell U sum diverter material, but the fuel line works jus az good and only at a fraction of the cost...REX:cool:

Burke,
The list of mods on that project needs to be updated but most of the stuff that was done is there. There was a drastic increase in midrange performance. Before the mods were done the motor would turn a modified 28 chopper to 6400rpms (1.87 l/u) on my 21' allison. That prop is no longer with us now but the modded motor turned another 28 chopper (stock) right at 7100rpms. The motor has turned over 8000 in the 1/4 with 24 yamaha and 165-170lbs of compression. If you click around on the ByUBoyz website you will find videos of my boat running before and after the mods. Look for the grey and white allison with grey mota. You may even find a video of that boat spanking the big ole REX...LMAO! Hope this helps.

I also read the Cherry 2.4 article with great interest and have a few questions as well. First, who makes the velocity stacks and where can they be purchased? Second, can you provide more info. on the heads? Third, are there any good books/websites dedicated to engine hop-up info.?
