I did not ask, but they usually use 17 pitch props for their tow boats, so I reckon the hole shot is pretty good.

They have some of the best skiers in the world! And are a joy to watch
and seeing the things they do.They pull 2 pyramids.with others on the sides with this rig.50 +skiers if i recall.
Dale at Rock River Marina on kosh did the work rigging this boat.:D
Its a tuff looking boat with the new power.
Check out the ski team at
http://www.rockaquajays.org/

And i always worried about the ratings on my boat being 165hp and powering with a 200 merc on it.?

heck you could put a 280 on her.... a 150 and 280 weigh about the same since they are both built on the same block and mid platform.... its weight not HP that breaks things....

I would guess that they do not use high fives on those motors.

There are some tripple rig drivers and riggers that visit that site that can answer your questions if you like.

so does the the skiers have arms left after hole shot...
when you have that many skiers behind the boat, what you anticipate to be a hot start and a shoulder killer turns into mush the minute the rope comes tight.....

Of course our club only ran dual 200's

on a X a high 5 thrashed like a blender prop. It was one of those blue test program props so maybe it was a bad one. A XS could really blend the water with one of those things.

They know exactly what they are doing. The boat belongs to the Janesville Rock Aqua Jay water ski team. They have been national champions many times. They will use every bit of power the motors can produce in their big acts.

Just because it does not fit into your world of performance boating does not mean that it is not right. They have a similar boat with two Verados on it just as an experiment. I think they are sponsored by Mercury.

That thing's runnin 4 blade props. I never bothered to look at the picture till now. Well,,, I guess nobody ever said they weren't. Just not High 5's? And as for jerking arms out of the socket,,, you're a poor boat driver if you do. Right Captn.?

right, you pull them just hard enough to get the job done and try to conserve their energy for the next act.

I think they switched back to the 15 pitch three blade. I saw it perform at the nationals last weekend. It was impressive. I did see some 4 blades on tow boats there also. I did not have time to look at them closely. Those teams experiment a lot to try to get every last pound of thrust. The club drivers and mechanics are a good source for water ski prop information. They try a lot of different set ups.

You can go to www.hydrodyners.com (http://www.hydrodyners.com) and read some of their opinions.

Some of the triple rig boats are pulling 50+ skiers.
