first of all this site rocks. most questions i just look around and someone else has already asked. question is. replacing my 150 for a 200. available to me are 1996 and 1999 200 efi. both seem very clean around the same hrs. is it worth spending an extra 1000 dollars on the newer one? has there been any noticable improvement between these years? i thought i read that around 1999 the efi was making closer 225hp. any truth to that? if so defenetly worth it...thanks again..rick

if you go to parts express you'll find those two motor at part for part the same. i did it before i bought a 99 200efi. i had a blown 96 and wanted to be able to use the 96 for parts. is the 99 worth 1000 more????? how manty hours and what is the compression and can you get a leak down test.
as for any more hp the answer is no. mt son did 72 with the 96 and 72 with the 99 same boat.

thanks for the reply hsbob. about what i expected i guess. my next step is to do compression test on both. the 96 actually looks better than 99.they both claim 125psi. is that what i should expect? thanks again....anyone else have an opinion on this.

that would be great[ the 125 compression] but make sure its even on all cyclinders +-5 is good 10 is ok and the motor needs to be warmed up first.
