I want to replace the orignal bolt assembly that goes from the steering arm to the tiller on the moter. It's got the original setup from 89', so I figure it would be a safe thing to replace it....just because. It's also a little worn, and loose and sloppy. The one thing that I did notice was that there is a brass bushing installed in the steering arm that is flared out on both sides....so I can't remove it. Is that why I have to buy a new arm?? What about if I just want the parts I can replace.....the bolt, nut, brass sleeve, and orings?
I called a few boat dealerships in town and they are saying that I have to spend $70 and buy the entire steering arm/rod that hooks to the tiller arm in order to get the bolt, nut, brass spacer and brass bushings. Is that right??
Also, does anyone have a close-up view of how the o-rings, spacee, bushings, and bolt/nut are all supposed to go together. I should have taken a picture of it before I took it all apart
It's an 89' OMC GT-200 Looper.
Thanks guys!!
