Installed this motor today, never seen it run before, was told it ran great.

1) Put it on the hose and there's nothing coming out my pisser but a faint dribble.
2) I removed all the hoses and it appears that the "start" of the external waterflow circuit would be off the top of the port head (not sure what's going on with other head, maybe a tstat in each side?), and I cannot blow or suck on that nipple on the port head but if I blow through the rest of the circuit there's airflow.
3) On the lower unit there's water coming out many places, places I didn't know existed. Water shooting out the exhaust (bullet) as well when the motor is off as well.

Is the pisser not supposed to work until it's warmed up or something? I didn't let it get too hot but that didn't make a lot of sense. thanks.

was there any service history on the mota you buyed.?.

check thermostats ( yes one in each cyl head )...

but for your own peice of mind , you shood be checking & replacing the impellor.

this mota shood flow out the pisser regardless of whether the thermostats are open or not..

but it may take a few seconds to flow coz the block has qwite a large cavity to fill wit water..

I had the same problem on my 87 200 looper last year. Some of the hoses are so small in diameter that a small rock had been stuck in one of them. It still allowed air/water through, but only a trickle like you are noticing. I replaced every hose because some were the originals and very weathered and the problem went away. Pull the t stats too and clean them. I found one of mine full of crap.

Good luck

Thanks for the input guys. I am able to blow through all the lines right now, but I'm not able to blow backwards through the engine. I'll go pull the tstats now.

Thre is also a small L shaped fitting in the botton of the block on the starboard side that you might want to check. When that fitting gets a small pebble in it the water flow on mine slows to a dribble. I will eventually learn about beaching the boat with LWP's

Found the problem. It was between the ground and the wrench. Thanks guys. These Loopers take FOREVER to fill up!!!! I removed the lower and checked the impeller, it's in great shape, no black even came off on my hands. Then I shoved the garden hose on the water tube, and nothing! Went and contemplated and 3-4 mins later, we had a pisser. I removed the hose and water was pouring out of the motor at an alarming rate!!

I don't think it should take that long. Mine will pee water just trying to crank it, not alot, but some. Once it fires up, within 10 seconds or less, the pressure coming out of the pee hole is like a pressure washer.

I run probably 5 to 6 psi at idle, it pegs the gauge as soon as its moving. Over 30 psi.

We had the same symptoms, and found that ants had decided to make their winter home inside the cooling passages of the motor. They packed the entire engine cooling jacket and restricted the flow. The engine would overheat from a very slow flow through the motor. Found them when we were replacing the thermostats. Pulled the covers off the heads, and there must have been a million of 'em in the cooling passages of the heads. Weirdest thing I have ever seen.

Lockjaw, that's a lot of pressure! My guage isn't hooked up yet but It's running well. I did remove the thermostats and they were clean.
